Internet Research
Group Publishes New Report on End Point Security – The Network Admission
Control Report
Los Altos,
Calif., October 14, 2005 – Internet Research Group (IRG) today
announced the release of its latest report on network admission control.
“In 2005 the topic of end-point
security lit up in the security marketplace”, noted Peter Christy,
co-founder of IRG. “Strong customer demand materialized for products that
could intelligently control access to corporate networks. With the erosion
of the value in perimeter defenses, a new networking security category
emerged.”
This new study, the Network
Admission Control report, examines the challenges faced by enterprises
as network-based assets and services increase in value and more individuals
depend on these services to do their jobs. The intrinsically open nature of
TCP/IP networks is no longer suitable for running an enterprise network.
The report also details the
installed market share among the leading vendors in this space. With over
twenty vendors (including Cisco’s NAC and Microsoft’s NAP as key element)
and clear customer demand, this is one of the most rapidly growing
categories in the security business. In a subsequent report, IRG will
overview the vendors competing for customers in the end point security
marketplace.
The study is available now. A
prospectus for this study can be downloaded by
