Internet Research Group Publishes Research
Study On Riverbed Atlas

Los Altos, CA – October 22, 2008 – Internet Research Group (IRG) today announced the release of its latest report on technology infrastructure, “Riverbed Atlas: An IRG Overview.”  Last month Riverbed Technology (Nasdaq:RVBD) outlined its vision for entering the storage market with the announcement of the Atlas appliance family that leverages Riverbed’s SDR data reduction technology developed for its successful Steelhead WAN optimization product family.  This new research report analyzes Riverbed’s Atlas strategy, opportunity and challenges over the short and long term.

“Riverbed’s innovative Atlas offering is at the same time a natural evolution from their successful WAN optimization product and a very bold new direction for the company,” noted Peter Christy, co-founder of IRG. “Storage has traditionally been a very difficult market for new market entrants to crack because of enterprise storage managers’ understandable reticence to depend on a new company for critical data assets.  Time will tell how Riverbed will fare, but the offering is certainly worth watching.”

This new report - “Riverbed Atlas: An IRG Overview” – looks at the initial planned release of Atlas, the Atlas market opportunity and what might come beyond as the product family evolves.

Vendors directly impacted by Riverbed’s Atlas offering include: Blue Coat, Cisco, Citrix, Data Domain, EMC, Expand, Gear6, HP, Hitachi, IBM, Juniper Networks, Microsoft, NetApp, Silver Peak and Symantec.
